Ledger Hardware Wallet Recovery – PIN, BIP39 Passphrase & Ledger Live
Locked out of your Ledger due to a forgotten PIN, Ledger Live password, or 25th-word BIP39 passphrase? We provide secure, offline assessments for certain recovery scenarios involving Ledger devices and Ledger Live data. Follow the steps below to prepare your case and request a free, no-obligation assessment.
What We Can Help With
- Ledger Live password (desktop app lock) — offline assessment using your local Ledger Live data.
- BIP39 passphrase (“25th word”) — feasibility analysis with your strong hints, known address/xpub targets, or watch-only files.
- Device PIN strategy — guidance to avoid wipe and evaluate realistic options (we do not brute-force the secure element).
- Account reconciliation — mapping known addresses/transactions to candidate passphrases or derivations to confirm the correct setup.
Important Limitations
- We cannot bypass the Ledger device PIN or secure element. Too many wrong PINs will wipe the device.
- Without the original seed phrase (24 words), a wiped device cannot be restored.
- We will never ask for your 24-word seed. If you have it, you can restore yourself anytime.
- Success depends on the quality of your hints (PIN/passphrase/password) and the presence/quality of local Ledger Live data.
What to Send (Safest Options)
- Ledger Live desktop data (see paths below) — used for app-lock/password assessments and account mapping.
- Watch-only exports (if available): xpubs/addresses you believe belong to the wallet.
- Hints for one or more of: Ledger Live password, device PIN pattern, BIP39 passphrase.
- (Optional) Approx. year/software version last used and OS (Windows/macOS/Linux).
Do not email files. Use our /inquiry/ form; we’ll reply with a one-time, secure upload link.
Where to Find Ledger Live Desktop Data
- Windows:
%AppData%\Ledger Live\
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/Ledger Live/
- Linux:
~/.config/Ledger Live/
Close Ledger Live first, then copy the entire “Ledger Live” folder. This preserves encrypted storage (databases/IndexedDB) and settings required for assessment.
How to Prepare & Send Files (Secure)
- Close Ledger Live on your computer.
- Copy the Ledger Live data folder (see OS paths above) to your Desktop. If you have watch-only exports, include those too.
- Compress everything into
.zip
or.7z
and set a temporary password for the archive. - Submit an inquiry on our inquiry page. We’ll reply with a one-time, secure upload link for your encrypted archive.
- Provide detailed hints (below). Better hints = higher success odds + realistic time estimates.
Offline only: All assessment and testing runs on isolated systems. First step is an independent assessment — no commitment required.
Hints That Help Most (PIN / Password / BIP39 Passphrase)
- Type — which secret are we targeting? (Ledger Live app lock, device PIN, or 25th-word passphrase).
- Length — exact or range (PIN digits; password/passphrase chars).
- Character sets — digits only / letters+digits / symbols (which?).
- Patterns — word+year, initials+2 digits, ends with
!
, repeated digits (00
,11
), keyboard runs. - Words reused — names, pets, brands, places, fandoms.
- Dates/numbers — birthdays, anniversaries; formats used (
YYYY
,DDMM
). - Language/keyboard — non-English letters, QWERTZ/QWERTY, favorite symbols.
- Targets (if known) — xpub(s)/address(es)/transaction(s) that confirm the right wallet when a candidate is tested.
Even tiny details can drastically narrow the search space and improve feasibility.
Independent Assessment: Treat this as an independent assessment of your recovery problem. Submitting your case does not commit you to anything.
Security & Privacy: We never ask for your 24-word seed. Your files are handled confidentially and only used to evaluate your recovery request.
No Device Bypass: We do not bypass Ledger hardware security or attempt PIN brute-force on the secure element.
Ledger Recovery — Frequently Asked Questions
Can you recover without my 24-word seed?
Sometimes. If you have Ledger Live data and good password/passphrase hints, we may assess recovery of the app lock or validate candidate BIP39 passphrases against known targets. We cannot recover a wiped device without the original seed.
Do you brute-force the device PIN?
No. The Ledger’s secure element enforces a retry counter and will wipe after too many wrong attempts. We never attempt device bypass.
What about the 25th-word (BIP39 passphrase)?
We can assess candidates offline using your hints plus known addresses/xpubs to confirm when a candidate is correct. Strong hints are essential for feasibility.
Do you need my seed phrase?
No. Never share your seed. If you have it, you can restore your wallet yourself on any compatible device.
Is recovery guaranteed?
No. Success depends on hint quality and available data. We start with a free offline assessment and then advise realistic next steps.
